Nebraska sophomore Axelina Johansson, the Swedish indoor and outdoor record holder, won the women's shot put title with a facility record 63-3.25 (19.28m) at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Johansson became the first Nebraska female athlete to secure the shot put crown since Becky Breisch in 2003. Nebraska also became the first women's program to produce both the javelin champion and the shot put winner in the same year since Oklahoma in 2012 with Brittany Borman and Tia Brooks.
