LINCOLN, Neb. - A total of seven student-athletes from the Nebraska cross country teams received academic All-Big Ten honors, the conference office announced.

The Nebraska track and field program announced the signing of 10 student-athletes during the fall National Letter of Intent signing period on Thursday, Nov. 17.

The Nebraska track and field team begins its 2016-17 season with the annual Nebraska Intrasquad meet on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track at 2 p.m.

The Nebraska men placed 15th in the 10K race with 373 points, while the women took 19th place in the 6K race with 480 points.

The Nebraska cross country team will make its next stop at the 2016 NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa.

Bonnie Smith is a junior from Omaha, Nebraska. Smith arrived at Nebraska in 2014, when she competed at all six meets for the Huskers as a freshman.
